Plumbing FAQs, answered plainly
Answers to common plumbing questions for Central Texas homeowners — pricing, scheduling, water heaters, slab leaks, water softeners, and more.
Pricing & Trust
Do you charge a dispatch or service-call fee? +
No. Plumbing Outfitters does not charge a dispatch fee, and estimates are free. We'd rather earn your trust by showing up, diagnosing the issue, and giving you clear, up-front options — guidance over guesswork.
How does your pricing work? +
We use flat-rate, line-item pricing. You'll see the cost of each option in writing before any work begins — no surprises, no scope creep, and no pressure. We present clear choices and let you decide what's right for your home and budget.
Are you licensed and insured? +
Yes. We're a fully licensed and insured plumbing company owned and led by an actual master plumber (RMP). Every technician is background-checked and trained to our CHAMPS service standard.
Do you offer second opinions? +
Absolutely. If another company gave you a quote — especially for a big repair or replacement — we're happy to take a fresh look and give you an honest second opinion at no cost.
Scheduling & Service
Do you offer same-day service? +
Yes — same-day appointments are available for most plumbing issues across Central Texas. Call us early in the day for the best chance at a same-day slot, and our after-hours phone agents are available for urgent help.
What areas do you serve? +
We serve Taylor, Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Pflugerville, Hutto, West Lake Hills, Lakeway, and dozens of surrounding Central Texas communities. Check our Service Areas page or just call to confirm.
What should I do in a plumbing emergency? +
First, shut off the water — either at the fixture or the main shutoff valve to your home. Then call us right away. For gas odors, leave the home and call your gas utility and 911 first, then reach out to us once you're safe.
Common Plumbing Questions
Tankless or traditional water heater — which is right for me? +
It depends on your household's hot-water demand, available space, and budget. Tankless units deliver endless hot water and save space, while traditional tank heaters cost less up front. We'll walk you through the trade-offs and right-size the system for your home.
What is trenchless sewer repair? +
Trenchless repair replaces or relines a damaged sewer or water line without digging up your entire yard. It's faster, less invasive, and usually spares your landscaping, driveway, and patio.
How do I know if I have a slab leak? +
Warning signs include a spike in your water bill, warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water when nothing's on, low water pressure, or unexplained moisture. Our leak-detection tools pinpoint the source without tearing up your home.
Do I need a water softener in Central Texas? +
Central Texas water is notoriously hard. A water softener protects your pipes, water heater, and fixtures from scale buildup, improves soap performance, and can extend the life of your plumbing. We'll test your water and recommend the right solution.
